In the past few weeks, I have been experimenting with a new SEO strategy that utilizes expired domains to leverage quick traffic from Google Discover. This approach has yielded some amazing results that I wanted to share.
I recently launched a website using an expired domain, and in just 13 days, the results have been astonishing! With minimal promotion, the site has amassed:
- 80,000 active users (up 4,728.5%)
- 136,000 views (up 5,627.2%)
- 415,000 events (up 5,507.1%)
These numbers show the power of Google Discover when properly leveraged with high-quality content and the right SEO strategy. ๐ The key to this success has been understanding how Google Discover works and catering to its unique algorithm, which favors fresh, visually engaging, and user-interest-based content.
Check out the graph below for a quick look at the 7-day performance boost from this experiment:
What Contributed to This Growth?
The websiteโs rapid rise in traffic can be attributed to a combination of factors, including:
- Using an Expired Domain: Expired domains often come with established authority and backlinks, which helped boost initial visibility.
- Engaging Content: Fresh, engaging, and niche-specific content helped the website get picked up by Google Discover.
- Optimized for Mobile: Google Discover primarily serves mobile users, so ensuring that the site is optimized for mobile responsiveness was crucial.
The Challenge: Short Lifespan on Google Discover
While the results are promising, I’ve noticed a recurring issue. After about 15 days, the website stops appearing in Google Discover, and traffic begins to drop. This has been a common theme across all my Discover experiments, and I am working on figuring out why this happens.

What’s Next?
Iโm actively testing different methods to prolong the site’s presence on Google Discover. I’m analyzing performance metrics and adjusting my strategy accordingly. Iโll be sharing my insights and further developments here on my blog, so stay tuned!
